Object from Nothing relies on local materials to make all of our products, and hardware is a big part of that mission. They could be called "local currency buttons", because the concept is bigger than just dimes. This method of making hardware can be adapted and applied in communities around the world. Anywhere soft metal coins are used as low-value currency.

It’s about sourcing locally, working with what’s available, and rethinking value. If you are interested in making your own, please reach out and we can teach you how.

    Craftmanship

    • The value of coins are diminishing everyday, and most coins actually cost more to produce than they are actually worth.

    • Each button is hand pressed. We use a jeweler's dapping block to get different radiuses for internal & external curves.

    • Hundreds of different profiles can be made with just a hand press. We also use a few homemade tools and dies to get even more control over the profile.

The arbor press is our friend. He is nice to us and only gets jammed every now and then. But we just keep a hammer close by and he unjams fairly easily. We use a standard 1 ton press we got used for $20
